About

Welcome to Laura Ann Ewing. I am so glad you are here! In case you did not gather, my name is Laura. I am an early 30-something year old, travel obsessed, accountant(ish) by day and writer by night. What started as a travel blog under the name “There Goes Laura” in 2017 has developed into a place to share stories. And not just any stories, stories full of life. So who am I, and how did I get here? For an abbreviated version of what this website is, check out the home page! But this is where I want to tell you (as humbly as I can) a little about me.

It all started in November 1988 when I was born…

Actually, my birth certificate may say it started then, but God had a plan for me from the beginning of time. And part of that plan led us here, to this blog, how cool!

First, I work a full-time 8-5 job. From how much I travel, it may not always seem as though that is the case, but I assure you it is. I put a lot of hours in at the office, and have learned how to manage my time off (weekends, holidays, etc.) to see as much of the world as I can, in what little time I have. Speaking of the world, I am in love with it. The people, places, architecture, landscapes, animals, history, cultures, food, and everything in between. This world is an incredible place. And because of my love of the world, I have a love for travel. Actually, can I have a minute to confess something here? I am a travel addict and the road to recovery is no where in sight.

I am either traveling, reading about travel, writing about travel, planning a trip, planning someone else’s trip, watching travel vlogs, daydreaming about travel, or being distressed because I am not traveling. I also love writing, history, photography, and architecture. And the most important thing of all, I love God. This world He created is a beautiful place, and I want to showcase that while sharing of His love and telling of His grace.

Second, I run the nursery ministry at my church. God really knows what is best for us, and in a time where I was wildly miserable in where I was serving, He opened a door and I ran through it. I do not have kids (and may never *gasp*), but I sure do love the place He has put me to serve. It isn’t always easy, and I learned very early on that my attitude is everything in how I feel towards serving, but when I do it with the right heart, it is absolutely always worth it.

I am incredibly imperfect. I stumble more that I can admit. And I spent a long time thinking I knew God, but never surrendering to His Son. My past is a mess. But I serve a God who loves me enough to send His Son to save me from ALL my sins. All of them. Every blessed one of them. So yes, my past may be messy and full of sin. But that is the beauty of what Christ did for us. We can have a past to learn from, not one we have to live in.

Third, I’m writing a book! God really, really, really, opened this door and pushed me through it. Isn’t that like Him though? He will make sure that I know what He wants, when He wants it. I’m a bit stubborn, and He knows that.

I am stepping so far out of my comfort zone on this one. I am a particularly private person. Even this blog is uncomfortable for me at times. But I love writing, and this project has become my favorite thing I have done. Ever. There will be more on this in the Fall of 2019. But for now, think 30 year old, single, female Christian, who hears all about how she should get married and have children. All. Of. The. Time. A little humor. A little theology. A lot of truth.

And lastly, I run this little blog. Laura Ann Ewing (Hi, that’s me!) is a place for friends. Here you will find travel itineraries from trips I have taken, funny stories of failures that I have had, post on studies I have done in the Bible, real life let downs, and encouraging stories of forgiveness, love, grace, and so much more!

When you leave here, I hope you have had a laugh or a cry (maybe even both). But most of all, I hope you can say “That God she talked about sure is something special.”

I have so many stories to tell. My testimony, how God turned a travel blog into this place of encouragement, why I like being single and don’t particularly want children one day, how I stumble in my walk with Christ, that one time I pretended to be French in London to avoid an awkward situation, my thoughts on serving in the church, how I am absolutely a Martha and not a Mary most of the time, and so so so many more.

So stick around, sign up for my email list and join the fun (I won’t spam you, pinky promise!) and follow me on social media to know what is happening on the blog.

I really am so glad you are here, because the adventure is just beginning…

XO, Laura
